Today, Jack - one of our Supported Interns shares their lived experiences and learnings with us.
Whilst I am waiting for my supported internship to begin within hospitality and catering, the college agreed that I could do an internal work placement, helping my tutor with Learning Support. There is something amazing about helping the other learners. It gives me great pride and pleasure when I do it!
You know that feeling you get when you accomplish something? Well, I get that every time I do my LSA work.
I feel that I would make an excellent LSA because, I am understanding, patient, caring and above all, I want to make a difference. I understand it is not an easy job, but as I say I love a good challenge. The Learners are all lovely, and so are the staff.
Just knowing that I am making difference to someone’s life is amazing! The pleasure I get from it is unbelievable. I could really see myself doing it as a job in the future.
I am looking forward to starting within hospitality & catering again, as I have been doing that for 3 years! I already have my level 2 in hospitality & catering, but you can never have too much knowledge or experience.
As I am writing this, for once I am looking forward to my future, thanks to my college (Landmarks) and the fact they have given me a new chance at life, and I cannot wait for it to start!
My tutor Mikayla has been a massive help, she has helped me to get where I am today. If it were not for her and the other staff, I do not know what I would have done. I am profoundly grateful, and so is my family.
Thanks to the college I am now working towards my C level in mathematics, and I have just got my food safety level 2 via Greene King.
Today, I am so proud of what I have accomplished in such a short time, and even with Covid 19 around us, It hasn’t stopped me or the college from doing what we love, and that’s helping others.
