General Assistant

Location: Doncaster DN7

Hours: 9.00am – 2.00pm Mondays and Thursdays 

Start Date: TBC

Leading To: Long term placement  

Purpose of role: 

 

  • Work in two teams;

  • Team 1 – Serving customers in the library

  • Team 2 – Helping to clean and look after the local area 

Main Tasks / Activities of this role 

Library

  • Greet customers into the store  

  • Helping customers find what they are looking for  

  • Recording books loaned out to customers

  • General housekeeping – ensuring library areas are kept clean and tidy at all times

  • Serving customers drinks and refreshments

 

Community Street Cleaning

  • Cleaning the local area

  • Gardening – watering plants/ planting seeds

Shop Assistant

Location: Chesterfield S40

Hours: 10:00am – 3:00pm Days flexible

Start Date: TBC

Leading To: Paid Employment   

Purpose of role: 

 

  • Serve customers 

  • Help customers with their packing  

  • Use the tills  

Main Tasks / Activities of this role 
  • Greet customers into the store  

  •  Helping customers find what they are looking for  

  • Work with shop staff and managers to help customers  

  • Use till and count money  

  • Sorting and arranging stock 

  • General Housekeeping – Cleaning, Vacuuming and keeping the shop area tidy 

Shop Assistant / Customer Service

Location: Sheffield S10

Hours: Either - 18.50am – 1.30pm or 1.05pm – 5.30pm

           Two shifts per week – work shifts are: 

           Tuesday PM, Thursday PM, Friday AM and PM  

Start Date: TBC

Leading To: Paid Employment   

Purpose of role: 

 

  • Serve customers 

  • Help customers with their packing  

  • Use the tills  

Main Tasks / Activities of this role 
  • Greet customers into the store  

  • Helping customers find what they are looking for

Shop Assistant

Location: Sheffield S10

Hours: 11.00am - 4.00pm Tuesday   

Start Date: End of April

Leading To: Paid Employment   

Purpose of role: 

 

  • Serve customers 

  • Help customers with their packing  

  • Use the tills  

Main Tasks / Activities of this role 
  • customers into the store  

  • Helping customers find what they are looking for  

  • Dealing with general customer queries, referring to shop managers where appropriate

  • Use till and count money  

  • Sorting and arranging stock 

  • General Housekeeping – Cleaning, Vacuuming and keeping the shop area tidy 

Up to nine roles available covering four areas in:

Decorating / Gardening / Admin/Reception / Cooking Facilitator

Location: Sheffield S1

Hours: Various   

Start Date: TBC

Leading To: Long term placement / Paid   

Purpose of role: 

 

  • To meet with young people living in a hostel setting and help to maintain the hostel upkeep and the day to day running

Main Tasks / Activities of this role 

Decorator

  • To support the young person decorate their home

  • Assist with painting hostel bedrooms

Gardener

  • Help maintain plant boxes

  • Support young people to identify seasonal and sustainable plants

Reception

  • Answering the phone

  • Dealing with General Enquiries

  • Using a photocopier

  • Answering front door intercom system

  • Processing the post

 

Cooking Facilitator

  • To help young people plan, prepare and cook healthy meals

  • To prepare ingredients with young people

  • To cook meals with young people

  • Record keeping

Business Services Officer

Location: Matlock, Derbys

Hours: 3.5 Hours a day, 3 days a week for six months

Start Date: TBC

Leading To: The SI will be in a good position to apply for future business services and administrative positions both within the council and elsewhere.  

Purpose of role: 

 

  • To provide basic business admin skills within an office environment at Derbyshire County Council.

Skills required: 

 

  • Basic business admin skills or willingness to learn.

Main Tasks / Activities of this role 
  • Making up information packs 

  • Photocopying & scanning

  • Setting up simple spreadsheets

  • Sending out letters, putting up posters & laminating posters

  • Answering the telephone, taking phone messages & delivering them.

  • Other admin duties as required

Business Services Assistant

Location: Matlock, Derbys

Hours: 3 days per week 10.00am – 3.00pm 

Start Date: TBC

Leading To: The SI will be in a good position to apply for future service assistant positions.

Purpose of role: 

 

  • To provide the Children’s Services at Derbyshire County Council with website maintenance, programming, supporting staff to use IT equipment and software.  

Skills required: 

 

  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, accuracy and attention to detail, literacy and numeracy skills, ability to comply with and procedures, good communication skills.

Main Tasks / Activities of this role 
  • Generally, the role will involve familiarity with straightforward office or other service routines, with some procedural understanding.  Job holders follow regular instructions: organisation or planning is essentially about timing and sequencing assigned tasks.  They respond to routine queries or circumstances independently. 

  • Specifically, the person would work with the Web team to update and maintain our websites such as the Local Offer, SchoolsNet, and some of the DCC pages. They will also be involved in admin duties such as updating records in our case management systems and setting up meetings.
